Personal Information

Following a previous interest in catalysis from a synthetic inorganic perspective, I am fascinated by how biology consistently affords powerful, selective, and efficient solutions to difficult chemical transformations. By better understanding how enzymes work, inspiration may be found for generation of better synthetic analogues or inhibitors to halt undesirable reactions. Often, this investigation of structure and activity is aided greatly by a variety of forms of spectroscopy. My current project utilizes fluorescence imaging of a microfluidic mixing device to elucidate the kinetics of enzyme catalysis by dihydrofolate reductase.

In my free time, I enjoy baking for my friends, artistic endeavors, and attending concerts.
