9-10:15 a.m.: Meeting with Mr. Deepak Parekh, Chair, Housing Development Finance Corporation, at Ramon House offices

Meeting with Shyam Benegal at Gordon House conference room

Meeting with Mr. Ratan Tata, at Taj Mahal Hotel

See the Dubbawallas who have an ellaborate means to pickup up and distribute home-prepared lunches to workers in their offices.

Prof. T.K. Biswas, Director, Bharat Kala Bhawan, BHU (a scholar on Indian Sculptures, Paintings, Mythology etc.);

Dr. Ranjana Srivastava, Reader in  'Kathak' Dance, and an expert on Music forms;

Prof. Deepak Malik, Professor of Commerce, BHU, and currently Director, Gandhian Institute at Rajghat, Varanasi.

9:30-10:45 a.m.: Meeting with Mr. Jayant Prasad, Joint Secretary for the Americas, Ministry of External Affairs; conference room, Park Hotel

11 a.m. -12:30 p.m.: Meeting and lunch with Dr. Sona Khan, advocate before the Indian Supreme Court; conference room, Park Hotel

1-3 p.m. Tour of National Museum, with Dr. Shobita Punja

4:30-5:30 p.m.: tea and conversation with Dr. Punja and O.P. Jain, President, Sanskriti Foundation, restaurant, Park Hotel

7:30-10 p.m.: Dance performance by Mrs. Geeta Ramachandran, followed by dinner buffet at Park Hotel

Morning until 10:15 – free time; check out of hotel

11 a.m – 12:00.: Meeting with Mr. N.K. Singh, Planning Commission at his offices

1:00 – 3:00. Lunch with CII, including Sunil Gupta and Gulshan Kalra (Coca-Cola) at CII headquarters.

Day 13. Tuesday, January 13, 2004, Hyderabad

10-11 a.m.: Meeting with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at venue he specifies

2 – 4 p.m. Meeting at Indian School of Business (www.isb.edu) (The brainchild of the global consulting company McKinsey and Co, is currently being set up in Hyderabad. Actively supported by the Indian industry, the ISB is partnered by the Kellogg School and Wharton School of Business in the USA.”)

6 – 8pm: Dinner meeting with faculty from NALSAR University of Law (see http:/www.nalsarlawuniv.org) to hear aboiut aid to the poor; venue: meeting room Taj Residency

8:30-9:30 a.m.: 1-hour visit to Hi-Tech City

All day: Health-related meetings organized by Dr. Sudarshan:

9 – 10 a.m.: Panel discussion (maximum three speakers) over breakfast at The Leela hotel or Lokayukta office

11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tour of Narayana Hrudayalaya heart hospital, followed by lunch

1 – 6 p.m. Tour by bus with stops for:

-Regional health center visit

-Village clinic visit

-Village tour and conversation with residents

11- 1:00pm  Panel discussion on the work of the Azim Premji Foundation, sponsored by Wipro computers, in promoting primary, secondary, and higher education in India.

Participating in the meeting, Mr. Dileep Ranjekar and his colleagues in Wipro:  Anurag Behar, Corporate Vice President, Quality, Brand, Communication and Innovation; Vijay Gupta - Vice President, Corporate Communication and Brand (Wipro Corporation) and Giri, Head, Advocacy and Research for Azim Premji Foundation. 7-9 p.m.: Meeting with Bhargavi Nagaraja Development Journalist, Consultant, Policy Researcher—a free lance journalist (mother of Emory graduate student) working on women’s rights at a meeting room in The Leela hotel


Day 17. Saturday, January 17, 2004, Bangalore

Free day in Bangalore

16:30: Depart hotel for airport

Flight: Bangalore/Mumbai by 9W-448 (1805/1940)

Transfer to the Leela Kampinski near the airport for a final dinner before transfer back to airport.
